    • The following pupil teachers were reported at yesterday?s meeting of the Education Board to have passed their examination Class 4 - ? Hugh McFeely, Middle, 66; (Mataura Ensign , Issue 1204, 4 July 1903, Page 5).
    • Southland Education Board. Friday, September 6. The monthly meeting ? The following appointments have been made: ? Orepuki, Hugh McFeely, temporary second assistant (Mataura Ensign , 7 September 1907, Page 3).
    • A meeting of the Country School Teachers was held at the Technical School, Invercargill, on Friday ? The following office bearers were elected President, Mr H. McFeely (Tuatapere) ? (Otautau Standard and Wallace County Chronicle, Volume IX, Issue 425, 1 July 1913, Page 4).
    • Football Control. Sub-Union Meets At Otautau. A Lively Meeting. The Western District Sub-Union met at Otautau on Friday evening, there being present Messrs W. Porteous, A. A. Liddell, J. G.Gow, J. Clapp, N. Cowie, A. E. Ward, E. A. Traill, H. McFeely, and the secretary, C. E. Robertson

    • Delegates? Meeting. The following attended the delegates? meeting: - The President (in the chair), Messrs Ward and McFeely (Vice-presidents and delegates from all the clubs ? (Otautau Standard and Wallace County Chronicle, Volume IX, Issue 433, 26 August 1913, Page 5).
    • On 17 February, 1917 he signed up for military service. At that time he was a teacher at Tuatapere. During training at Awapuni and at Featherstone he displayed severe swelling of the feet and a report on his condition was lodged. Nonetheless, he was sent overseas and departed on the Tofua on 13 November, 1917, disembarking at Suez on 21 December, 1917. He was invalided with erythromelelgia, which severely affected his feet, on 15 April, 1918 at Ismailia. He was sent home on the Wiltshire on 29 August that year (military records).
    • Hugh died on 6 November, 1964 aged 77, and was buried in the Eastern Cemetery, Invercargill, Soldiers Avenue, block 2, plot 439 (Medical Corps). His last address was given as 11 Eden Crescent, Invercargill. His will and probates are lodged with the Dunedin office of New Zealand Archives - McFeely Hugh - Taramoa - Teacher (R22091359).
